Waltz No. 6

The Art Foundation [taf] presents the theater performance Waltz No. 6, based on the play by Nelson Rodrigues.

Waltz No. 6 is the story of Sonia, a young girl murdered at the age of 15. According to legend Waltz No.6 was composed by Fredrick Chopin while visiting George Sand, and watching Sand's dog chasing his own tail over and over.

In the play Waltz No.6, Sonia chases her own tail as she struggles with the issues of sexuality, guilt, and repression in a very religious society.

At the edge between life and death, a few minutes after her murder, Sonia tries to remember, to recall the events of her life and the people who marked her.

Nelson Rodrigues depicts Sonia as a transparent, fragile, fractured character in an anxious search of identity.
