TAF is pleased to present the exhibition Shadows march through by Kati Mahrt and Michalis Arfaras, which opens on Wednesday, February 15th and will run until March 15th, 2012. We always paid attention to our shadows. In the natural illuminated world, they were our orientation, our road sign, our time management, but they were also mysterious and eerily ominous (these they are always). Already in earlier times there were many myths around the shadow and those took a manifested place in our life. The cave allegory of Plato describes the human existence like a theatre of shadows. All along the time the shadow didn’t lost his fascination as allegory of existence or non-existence, as metaphor of being or appearance. The both sides of the shadow, the immaterial and at the same time gloominess, the counter-pole to the light, seemed as a sign, which is not tangible at all, as a world between, often as a connection to the ancestors. Our more and more artificial illuminated world, our virtual dream world, tried to dazzle us and to drive the shadow out. The pictures and objects from Kati Mahrt and Michalis Arfaras to this theme are showing different positions, they are in a dialog together and they want to make an offer for reflection. Like the shadow himself they content multiple truths. Exhibition opening: Wednesday 15 February 2012, 20.30 | ||||
