The work of all the featured artists of this month is absolutely genuine, original, open minded, straightforward, and definitely a celebration of what makes life worth living.
Delos Project simply sounds like no other Greek band. With lyrics raging from English to Sanskrit, and from French to Greek and on top of that sounding like an amalgam of roots music from all over the world with a touch of British production, they definitely dwell in their own territory.
Mode Plagal with their funky Vergina stew has changed not only the sound and the orientation of many Greek musicians but also the whole attitude towards the Greek musical tradition for all the native funksters.
African Spirit with Giorgos Fasolis, Anjo and Kostis Kopanaris on percussion, presents the work of the dance groups Anassα, Beijaflor, Echoes and Footprints, Delos & Lamine Keita (maitre danseur Guineain) in a short African dance festival.
Vasilis Tzavaras and Haris Lamprakis are some of the few Greek musicians transcending the barriers of their instrument and education.
Mc Yinka on the other hand with his band Urban Trio is probably the only known case of an AfroGreek mc with a message for all of us in 2011.
