The poetic vision of Ritsos is the means from which derives, the question of the familiar and unfamiliar. It negotiates the catalytic role of the foreign element within a course of social self-awareness, culture, and personal time of the individual. Does the existance of the foreigner, the "other", of the "foreign to myself" individual, brings upon a need for for the "non-foreign" so as to define one’s self? The underlying extremity in this question suggests that it be of existential nature; with the prevailing element of difference, the dialogue amoung male and female in universal/personal level. The single presence of one person functions as a staged set which allows an obsolete view of identity from within a theatrical journey; an encounter from within the poetry of eye-contact.
