Curatorial open call

TAF announces the extension of the deadline for the submission of curatorial proposals until January 30, 2012 and the introduction of a special committee for the evaluation of the proposals.

The open call refers to young curators up to 35 years old and gives them the opportunity to propose a contemporary art group exhibition and to realize it in the space of the Art Foundation.

While the age restriction does not apply to participating artists, in the case of a collective curatorial project it does apply to all members of the curatorial group. TAF will provide technical support (lighting, projectors, dvd players etc.), will promote the exhibition, and will cover all functional expenses of the venue as well as the expenses of a special printed publication, which will accompany the exhibition. The successful curator (or curatorial team) will receive a compensation of 500 euros.

Proposals can only be submitted electronically in pdf format by sending an email to info@theartfoundation.gr and including "OPEN CALL" in the email subject line. The results of the open call will be announced on the 7th of February.

The curator (or the curatorial team) of the selected proposal will be held responsible  for the organization, planning and production of the exhibition outlined in the submitted proposal, the production of a press release and the compilation of the photographic material to accompany it, the production of a curatorial text and the coordination of the publication that will accompany the exhibition.

The selected exhibition will take place between 19.03–21.04.2012.

Exhibition Proposal
-Exhibition title
-Text that will define, articulate and explain the concept and idea behind the exhibition. (400-600 words)
-List of the participating artists including a short bio (100 words max)
-In case the works already exist, images of the works and accompanying description (medium and dimensions)
-In case the works will be produced specifically for the exhibition, a short description
-Layout of the exhibition in accordance with TAF's floor-plans. The floor-plans will be emailed to entrants upon email request (info@theartfoundation.gr)

Proposals can only be submitted electronically in pdf format by sending an email to info@theartfoundation.gr and including “OPEN CALL” in the email subject line. Proposals can be submitted in either greek or english. The deadline for submissions is midnight on the 10th of January 2012. Proposals received later than the stated deadline will not be considered.

Proposals will be evaluated by TAF’s creative team.

Responsibilities of the curator

The curator (or the curatorial team) of the selected proposal will be requested to sign a contract according to the terms of which, he/she will be held responsible, among other things, for the organization, planning and production of the exhibition outlined in the submitted proposal, the production of a press release and the compilation of the photographic material to accompany it, the production of a curatorial text and the coordination of the publication that will accompany the exhibition.

Participation in the open call implies the acceptance of the terms and conditions outlined above.
